Our Services
Support that is practical, evidence-based, and designed for real family life
At Manly Minds, we don’t just see the behaviour, we look at the whole picture.
We work alongside families to build skills, confidence and calm that carry over into everyday life.
We take great pride in our approach that is family focused.
We involve the parents, children, teens (and siblings where appropriate), as well as other important people who care for your child, such as teachers and schools.

Every member of the family system is important, which is why we also offer help to couples, as well as adults for individual sessions as required.

Child Therapy
For younger children, therapy needs to make sense in their world — through play, connection and practical skill building.
We use play-based therapy and emotional skills work to help children understand their feelings, feel safer in their bodies, and build tools to cope. At the same time, we work closely with parents so strategies carry through at home and school.

We commonly help with:
-
Worries and anxiety — separation, social worries, generalised fears, health anxiety, repetitive behaviours or a strong need for control
-
School struggles — school refusal, avoidance, attention or concentration difficulties, hyperactivity, behavioural issues
-
Big emotions — meltdowns, overwhelm, anger, aggression, difficulty calming down
-
Challenging behaviour at home or school
-
Friendship and social difficulties — fitting in, feeling left out, bullying, reading social cues
-
Adjustment to change or stress — grief, separation, divorce, blended families, family changes
-
Building healthy routines and structure to create calmer, more predictable home environments
Teen and Young Adult Therapy
Teen years are a time of huge change both physically (in their brain and bodies), socially and emotionally. Emotions can feel intense, friendships complicated, and school pressures overwhelming. Therapy gives teens a space where they feel heard — while also learning practical tools to manage what life is throwing at them.
We work collaboratively with teens (and parents where helpful) to build clear goals and useful strategies.

We commonly support teens with:
-
Anxiety and stress
-
Low mood, depression, anger or irritability
-
Self-harm or risky coping behaviours
-
School stress, motivation and academic pressure
-
Friendship issues, social anxiety, feeling different or left out
-
Trauma-related symptoms
-
Attention and focus difficulties (including ADHD support)
-
Adjustment to life changes or grief
-
Substance use concerns
-
Body image and eating concerns
-
Gender identity and self-understanding
-
Practical coaching around school load, screens, friendships and balance

Family & Parent Support
Sometimes the most powerful changes happen when parents feel supported and are educated and involved in improvements.
We help parents feel more confident and skilled, by offering practical, realistic strategies that fit everyday life.

We can help with:
-
Reducing conflict and strengthening connection
-
Creating clear, calm parenting plans that both caregivers can follow
-
Building routines and boundaries that actually work
-
Emotion coaching and calm-down plans
-
Reducing patterns of fighting, ignoring, avoidance or family disconnection
-
Navigating separation, divorce, blended families and co-parenting
-
Parent burnout and overwhelmed families
-
Supporting families where multiple children are struggling
Relationship Therapy
Relationships can be hard at the best of times, and they certainly can feel the strain of parenting, life stress, other life stage transitions.
We work within an emotionally-focused and skills-based therapy model, to help couples understand and discover what they need to move forward.

We work with couples experiencing:
-
High conflict or frequent arguments
-
Feeling stuck, disconnected, or misunderstood
-
Parenting differences and stress related to family life
-
Life transitions (new baby, career changes, relocation, illness, loss)
-
Relationship crises or significant breaches of trust
-
Uncertainty about the future of the relationship
-
Navigating separation in a respectful, supported way
-
Ongoing tension affecting emotional wellbeing, family life, or communication

Our focus is on helping couples improve communication, understand each other’s emotional needs, and make thoughtful decisions about their relationship — whether that means rebuilding connection or navigating change with care.

Individual Therapy
Parents and caregivers sometimes need their own space for support, reflection and coping. We offer individual therapy for adults needing guidance with stress, anxiety, mood, or the emotional load of parenting and family life.
Collaboration Matters
Children and teens do best when the adults in their world work together.
We collaborate (with consent) with:
GPs and paediatricians (Mental Health Care Plans welcome)
Schools and teachers
Occupational therapists, speech therapists and other allied health professionals
